Originally there was a scene in the last episode where Carrie and Franny briefly reunited, but it wasn't shot for two reasons, according to co-creator Alex Gansa: 1) the episode was over budget and 2) Claire Danes felt strongly that Carrie wouldn't do that because she said goodbye to Franny forever in season 7.
