Herkermer Homolka (Tim Curry), says he's "...free now of the chains of Ceausescu." Nicolae Ceausescu was the Communist dictator of Romania from 1965 to 1989. Under his reign the country's economy and infrastructure collapsed. During a speech of his being recorded live in 1989, the people revolted. The military sided with the rebels. Nicolae, along with his wife Elena, were captured and found guilty for crimes against humanity. They were immediately executed by firing squad.
