The entire mission is rife with references to Top Gun; the title is just the beginning. Loggins frequently works lines (sometimes paraphrased) from the movie into his ECHO transmissions. "Goose's Roost" refers to a character from the movie with the callsign "Goose." Even the volleyballs' item card reads "That's classified."
