In the climax, Queen Narissa transforms into a dragon-like beast, the same as Maleficent does. In an opening scene, when Prince Edward is overcome with love for Giselle, he picks up the portly Nathaniel and does an awkward dance with him. The scene is reminiscent to Prince Philip doing a similar move with his father, King Hubert. In addition, when Narissa reveals the unconscious Giselle behind her is the same way Maleficent reveals Aurora to the fairies.
