Incident at Restigouche
In the final animation Gisigu says in Mi'gmaq "None of you are getting past this line". This is a reference to the 1984 documentary "Incident at Restigouche" in which the Canadian government raided the Listuguj reserve over Mi'gmaq fishing rights. An elderly Mi'gmaq tribe member is quoted in the documentary as saying in Mi'gmaq "I take my axe, I draw a line for them not to come any further". Director Jeff Barnaby was 4 years old at the time of the raids and living on the Listuguj reserve.
