The Master
The opening shots of the two movies are very similar. Freddie looks from side to side with a soft-sounding score playing. The music gets more dramatic when Freddie closes his eyes. This is all very similar to the snow monkey sitting in the hot spring at the beginning of Baraka. Paul Thomas Anderson actually stated that he showed this opening scene to Joaquin Phoenix in preparation for the role.
