Detective Monk: Mr. Monk Is on the Run: Part 1
Much of the plot is based on ''The Fugitive,'' such as the protagonist being framed for murder, subsequently escaping on the way to jail, and a massive manhunt ensuing. Many lines between the film and episode are similar: Rollins's line of "every tricycle" when he is telling his deputies to stop all vehicles with roadblocks mirrors a line said by Samuel Gerard in the film. The request for a helicopter is also similar in the way it is said.
