*SPOILER*An evil spirit takes posession of an old man, and makes his body crawl stairs. Also, he makes similar noises with his throat as the ghost-woman in The Grudge. There is also a scene shortly after the little boy hits Casey with the mirror where he is at the top of the stairs looking through the railing, this is a direct reflection of the little boy Toshio in The Grudge who does the exact same thing.
