Dr. Gray explains to Tommy Nelson that the invisibility serum drove John Griffin (the character in the 1933 film) mad before an anitdote could be developed. A picture of Claude Rains, who portrayed Griffin in the earlier film, hangs on a wall in Dr. Gray's office.
