When the four main characters walk towards Yogurt's statue in fear, the scene resembles the scene in The Wizard of Oz, when they walk towards the Wizard. There's also an analogue between each character: Barf being the Lion, Dot Matrix being the Tin Man, Vespa being Dorothy and Lone Starr being the Scarecrow
