Many of the animals featured in the film are significantly larger than in real life, including the snake Kaa, the wolves, the elephants, Shere Khan, and several of the monkey species. This was done deliberately in order to make Mowgli seem even smaller and weaker by comparison, enhancing the main idea of the movie that his strength lies in his wits.
