When making the fire on the highway, Ray Milland threw a bucket of gas out onto the road right at the edge of the opening in the fence. Yet the traffic was moving so fast and thick it would have just splashed onto the cars whizzing by. And then, when he lights the gas, there is only a small puddle of gas in the middle of the road that lights up, not a long splashing stream that would have occurred from throwing a hole big bucket of gas. The small puddle of gas on the road would have been impossible given the traffic flow, plus if the gas did make it onto the highway it would have been enough to splash across two full lanes. And when he lights it there are no cars driving over it. But when the flames are shown afterward it's a huge wall of flame, as much as if several buckets of gas were dumped onto the road, plus it's a good 10-15 feet up the road from where the gas was actually thrown. And there should have been a huge multi-car pileup from everyone slamming on their brakes, as much traffic was moving at the time and as fast as the nearly bumper-to-bumper traffic was moving, but the only sound was of some brakes squealing.
