The Chevrolet 3100 seen on the highway prior to the semi ramming it is seen with a nonstock independent front suspension from a 1963-87 Chevrolet 1/2 ton light truck - the truck being rammed has the original i-beam (straight axle) front suspension with front leaf springs which was used by Chevrolet and GMC (the 1947-55 (first design series) had this straight axle front suspension which was last used in 1959 when GM redesigned the front suspension with control arms and torsion bars for the 1960-62 model year; coil springs were used with the 1963 - 2007 model years (its final application was the GMT800 where its current successor used a strut-like setup).
