Pilate (Frank Thring) announces a charioteer from Carthage in the race. Carthage was completely destroyed by Rome in 129 BC. While partially true (the destruction was in 146 BC), the observation overlooks that Carthage was later rebuilt by the Romans from 49 to 44 BC. It is entirely plausible for there to have been a Carthaginian charioteer.
