In the extended cut of the trilogy we see Pippin and Merry drinking Ent draughts, which make them visibly and immediately taller. Yet they are never seen to be any taller than the other hobbits at any stage throughout the rest of the trilogy. In the books they were renowned for their height and were supposed to have only been shorter than Bandobras "Bullroarer" Took, who at 4 feet 5 inches tall was big enough to ride a horse and to win a battle by killing the orc leader with a single blow.
