No car is built in such a way that a chain being run though the windows would support the weight of the entire vehicle. In that particular scene, the likeliest outcome would be that the chain ripped straight through the roof as the car drove off the cliff, plummeting onto the rocks below. Best case scenario would be that the metal of the roof sliced and folded in, possibly reinforcing the metal to a point where it COULD support the weight. Either way, the car is wrecked.
