Major Claremont and other soldiers armed with pistols carry older Colt 1860 revolvers with the Richards Conversion, but all other characters are armed with the Colt 1873 Peacemaker aka Single Action Army.
The US Army was the initial customer for the 1873 Single Action Army; commercial sales were not available for several years.
In the time period of this film, the soldiers should have been armed with the 1873 Single Action Army not the older Richards Conversions.
