After the attempt to swap Maria for Thomas, Catherine drives off with David and Thomas to an old quarry where her parents were being held. There Thomas contemplates suicide, but the location changes from a 20' x 20' x 20' chamber cut into the marble at 1:42:20 (on the Image Entertainment 3:01:40 DVD released 2/18/2013 in Region 1) to an open-air ledge with nothing visible above it at 1:42:24.
