During the several minute police chase, the cab containing the protagonist ends up traveling from Chinatown to Hunters Point/Bayview ( the old naval base is shown) in a short period of time. While the distance between the two areas is only 7 miles, to travel requires driving across the most dense parts of San Francisco and could normally take as long 45 minutes.
