When Jake first breaks away on his own as the Avatar - he lights a fire at night. Knowing the condition of the atmosphere, the fire would not burn the same way as it would in earth's atmosphere, nor should the sky appear the same for that matter. Unless we know enough about the science of the atmosphere, and the substance being burned, we can only guess how the flames would look and behave.
