If Hans had planned all along to kill Elsa, then why did he save her from being killed by the Duke's henchman in the ice palace? Had he pretended not to notice the henchman's intention, Elsa would have been killed and Hans would have been in the clear since the Duke and his henchmen would have been held responsible.
