SPOILER: After Thor had obtained Stormbreaker, by which he also obtained control over the Bifrost, Thor chose to go to Wakanda instead of Titan in order to face Thanos. At the beginning of the movie, Thanos clearly established, within earshot of Thor, that he wanted all of his "children" to meet him at Titan once they have collected the stones, therefore it would have been more logical for Thor to have used the Bifrost to travel to Titan instead of Wakanda.Heimdall used the power of the Bifrost (and the Bifrost Sword) to see everything in the Nine Realms (of which Earth is one, known as Midgard). If Stormbreaker can summon the Bifrost, there is no reason to assume that it could not also allow Thor to see that Midgard is under attack at that moment by Thanos' minions and is in immediate need of assistance.
