A funeral for an active duty four-star admiral would not happen as quickly as is seen in the film. After Iceman dies, he is shown being buried with full military honor less than a day or two later, given that training for the mission is still ongoing with less than two weeks left. An actual admiral's funeral would take about a week to be planned, the body would lay in state for at least two to three days and then an elaborate funeral at a national cemetery would need to happen with assembled dignitaries, family, and senior naval officers. It is also doubtful that the Top Gun students, all of whom are lieutenants, would be present and certainly would not be in the front row of mourners.
