When Indy encounters the two sword-wielding Thuggees he attempts to draw his pistol and then grimaces when he realizes his holster is empty. While this is a nod to the famous "shooting-the-Arab-swordsman" scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark (set one year after Temple of Doom), it is not a goof in the context of this prequel, because there is no indication here that Indy somehow "remembers" his future encounter with the Arab swordsman.
