An obvious mistake that has to be put on the actor is the fact that the butler nicely breaks his fall when he is pushed towards the wall by perfectly measuring the distance between him and the cold hard stone.
It is of course revealed that he in fact is not blind but then the goof becomes a plot hole as the eminent detective did not find this incongruous.
