Amy leading Nick and Margo directly to the shed would not have disarmed Amy's plan at all. There was no place to hide the objects in the shed, and attempting to hide or destroy the objects would have implicated Nick and/or Margo further. It could have also resulted in their fingerprints getting on the evidence. Leading Nick (and Margo) to the shed was a form of taunting Nick, who had no time or resources to figure out what to do with it, and calling it into the police would have seemed too difficult to believe, since the clues left by Amy are too elusive and confusing to hold up as evidence.
