The costume Parzival choose for the ballroom date with Art3mis is recognized by the characters as a costume from the cult 1984 movie Buckaroo Banzai, but it actually never appears in that movie. Although cut in Buckaroo's style and resemble the one he is wearing in the concert scene, Buckaroo wears an untied bow-tie and never wears any necktie in the film.
