The "desert" in Western Texas (the probable location of Westworld according to the narrative) looks nothing like the California desert where the film was shot. Most noticeably there are yucca trees shown which are only located in California, Southern Nevada, and areas of Western Arizona in the United States.
But not only does it not say it takes place in Texas (actually no state is mentioned), but also the film takes place in the future, meaning things could be changed.
