By the time Ryan goes onboard USS Enterprise, Jonesy had identified the sound signature of the Red October, had guessed correctly where it was headed, and Capt. Mancuso had "phoned in" all that information, and yet, Admiral Painter seems to have no idea what USS Dallas is doing off by itself in the North Atlantic.
