In the opening fight after Freeze blasts off into the atmosphere he is holding Batman hostage inside and as the capsule rising the inside begins to freeze which would eventually kill Batman (as altitude increases temperature decreases). However Robin is outside trying to climb in and he is perfectly fine despite being at the same altitude.
