Sudden death playoffs are never played the next day. They are only ever played immediately following the regulation 18 holes. (They would never make everybody come back the next day for what could be one hole and ten minutes at best.) Before television it was not uncommon to schedule a full 18 holes playoff for those tied for first, however now it is either sudden death or the aggregate score after 3 selected holes and sudden death after that should the players still be tied, both immediately following the regulation 18.
