At the end of the "walking in front of the car" scene, there are cars driving the wrong way on the road at the end of the off-ramp. The directions signs face, the indications of painted arrows, and yellow/white lines all show that the Babbitts' direction on the ramp is correct, but their car would plow straight into the other cars traveling the wrong way.
