Some of the scenes were shot at the Channel coast near Boulogne-sur-Mer and Calais and the main character is wrong when he says "The Americans landed here". The Allied forces were expected to land there in 1944 but instead chose Normandy, some 250 km from there. However, the old German bunkers belonging to the Atlantic Wall, as well as some rare footage of the actual landing intersected into the film are real.
