The seasons change very rapidly even by British standards. Since Petrofsky is said to have lived in his rented house for two months by the end of the movie, and since events commence around the new year, that would put the film's climax somewhere in February at the latest. However, the weather, foliage, and the extras' dress clearly indicate that it is well into spring, if not later.
