Sergeant's car ends up breaking down due to the armour under the bonnet being penetrated by armour piercing bullets. Armour piercing bullets can also penetrate bullet proof glass and despite some of the bullets clearly hitting the windscreen no bullets seem to pass through and the windscreen remains intact.
