The color of the blood from the slash of Desi's neck was too dark, even if it were only venous blood from the jugular vein. The fury of her slash would have guaranteed dividing the carotid artery, and blood coming from a relatively youthful heart would have been bright red. Blood as dark as depicted is typical of blood from a wound to the liver.
