Air bags would not be capable of floating the container trailer. Automotive airbags are sewn with open seams on the sides. This is done so that the explosive charge doesn't pop them and also so that as the occupant impacts them the air exits giving the occupant a soft "pillow" to hit, not a tightly inflated bag.
