Judging from a shot of Dave's smartphone, the story takes place in July of 2014, but both Dave and Scott drive vehicles with outdated license plate styles. Dave's style dates from 1980-86, and Scott's is from around 2003. Neither car appears eligible for a historical or vintage license plate, and neither plate number begins with the necessary letter for such designated collectors' plates.
