In the "19 Years Later" segment, both James Sirius Potter (Will Dunn) and Albus Severus Potter (Arthur Bowen) clearly have caged ferrets as pets/familiars. This is in contrast to Harry Potter's (Daniel Radcliffe') letter in Harry Potter e la pietra filosofale, which only gave owls, cats, or toads as options. This scene is set 26 years after Harry first read his letter, so it's possible (even likely) that the school's policies have changed.
