It's never questioned how Carson's ex-wife Bethany, who "left the country," can suddenly call up Carson to inform him with knowledge that Mack's a cop. It's also not questioned how David the safecracker (and friend of Bethany) can just happen by and recognize Carson in the town's dark coffee shop.
