McClane flashes his badge to the airport worker to get into the baggage handling area. Firstly no city policeman has authority in the airport, let alone McClane who's badge states he's L.A.P.D. and not Washington DC. Secondly any airport employee would know not to let anyone in without proper reason and approval from a supervisor or Airport Police.
