During the pursuit of Clarence's gang, Murphy shoots both his guns toward the back of the van. Given that all the gang were standing there with the doors wide open as they prepared to throw Bobby out, it would have been virtually impossible for Murphy to fire off shots from two guns and not hit anyone.
