The show is set in West Covina, California and is described as being "Just two hours from the beach, four hours in traffic." Actually, Seal Beach in Orange County is less than an hour away about 30 miles to the southwest of the city. Also, Santa Monica Beach on the other side of Los Angeles is only 35 miles away.This is addressed in-show with characters questioning the statement, to no avail.
