When articulated lorries (US - semis) brake and jackknife, the trailer will not swing to almost overtake the cab (tractor unit). Having much more mass, the trailer tends to continue in an almost straight line dragging the cab around and sideways. Also, the ISO (shipping) container would not break off the trailer and bounce, it would tip the trailer and slide; and if it hit the ground as in the film, it would deform not bounce.
