When Weyland introduces Elizabeth and David he looks and turns towards them and also points at them even though that was just a recording of himself. However, Weyland was a technologist (he created the David android) and the hologram of him was obviously projected via an artificial intelligence system - which is perfectly valid within a science fiction film.
