Henry calls up to Karl and Ludwig, "Stand by on the roof!" and begins to turn a large flywheel. There is a cut to a wide angle tilt up to the ceiling as it opens, and Karl is briefly visible at the bottom of the shot, ascending the stairs, cupping his hands to his mouth. He is evidently about to say, "The kites, get 'em ready," to Ludwig, a close up of which appeared earlier in the sequence.
