The medevac chopper that comes to take the wounded is a Bell UH-1, commonly referred to as a Huey. At the time of the siege, the Huey was first being introduced to U.S. Army aviation units, and had not been made available for foreign military / U.N. use.The helicopter used in Jadotville was a Sikorsky H-19, but airworthy H-19s were very rare at the time of filming, whereas Hueys were relatively easy to find.
