When Tom tells Vito that Sonny is dead, Vito refers to him as "Consigliere of mine," and pronounces the word phonetically; that is, he pronounces the g and the l. In Italian, in a g-l blend, the g is silent. A native Sicilian speaker would know this, and all the other characters pronounce it correctly.
