In the scene where Dr. Floyd comically studies the zero G lavatory instructions, he is in a spinning space station, where artificial 1G gravity is present in preceding scenes, so there should be no issue here.That would be true if Dr. Floyd were aboard the space station, but by this point in the plot he is aboard the lunar shuttle and is weightless, hence the need for the zero G toilet.
