The 7090 was far from the first computer that NACA/.NASA had, it would have been pronounced Seventy-Ninety or spelled out, not pronounced seven-Ninety. There was an IBM 709, which was pronounced Seven-Oh-Nine. Note that not even the older 709 was the first computer that NACA had.A programmer would not have been the one to power up a 7090, nor would the operators have powered it down when it was idle.
